Kindergarten - 8th Grade Academics

K-8 Curriculum

Memory Work

Beginning in kindergarten, students have memory assignments learning selected Bible verses. Students also learn the six chief parts of Luther’s Small Catechism and the books of the Bible. Because it is part of our curriculum, a separate grade is given for memory each trimester.

*LEARNING NOTE*
Why Memorize Bible Verses?  When you memorize a Bible verse, you are carrying the word of God in your head and in your heart. These words from God can be very helpful during life’s difficult times. The more familiar you are with God’s word, the easier it is for you to hear His loving voice. The Bible says that God’s word is like a light that shines in the dark to show you the way.

When you need the reassurance, you can remember that God’s Word promises:
"Be Strong and Courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." – Joshua 1:9
"Everything is possible for him who believes."  – Mark 9:23

Chapel

Midweek chapel services are held each Wednesday morning. A Scripture-of-the-Month program helps establish themes, designation of offerings, and students worship patterns. The offerings are collected to help spread God’s love to others. Everyone is welcome to attend. Prince of Peace Lutheran School sponsors a child through the Christian Children’s Fund. Monthly support is sent through regular and special offerings for that child.

“Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” – Matthew 19:14
